An Update from the Parkers

Hello First Lyman Family!

We've had a busy time since our last update but here is what's been going on with us and RND.

  1. As many of you prayed per our last update RND was looking for a building as we had hit a few bureaucratic snags. And as many of you may have seen from our socials God has blessed us with a building right next to Barnes Park where we do the majority of our community outreach. We have been in the building since June 1st and as the mission teams come in from various churches they have contributed to several projects toward improving the facilities including painting, painting, and more painting (and some light plumbing ).

  2. GenSend team consisting of students from Charleston Southern University have been doing a great job at connecting with the community through canvassing, church events, and pickleball….lots of pickleball. But seriously they have really done a great job and are learning what it looks like to serve the Lord on mission in many different ways. We had one of the GenSend guys from Louisiana who has been staying with us along with Nathan who was part of GenSend last year. They will be leaving us at the end of the month and we are so thankful and blessed to have been able to provide a place for them to live while being able to focus on missions. We have a young lady Kate who is moving to Utah in January who will be with us next. She wants to head up the Admin side of GenSend next year and we look forward to hosting her.

  3. On July 7th at our Family Member Meeting Redemption North Davis ordained myself and Mallory as RND’s first Deacon/Deaconess. We are extremely humbled and honored to be asked to serve in these roles and ask that the Lord continue to use us to serve His Kingdom through serving our local body.

  4. Finally we are continuing our Community Group in the fall which has grown to around 14 members. Andrew Mullins who initially led the group will be stepping away as he will be confirmed as a Non-staff pastor (pending member vote) in August. The members of the group have asked if I would lead the group and I am very excited to do so. I will also be continuing with my second semester of Redemption's Pastoral Apprenticeship up in Ogden.

We are seeing God grow this church by the week. So many people here are seeking for the truth found only in the Gospel and in the work and person of Jesus. We are so encouraged by your continued support and prayers. They allow us to continue to be used in service to our Savior whether it's through providing shelter for these young people, teaching, helping keep the church clean, serving our community group, ministering to the families in our neighborhood, or sharing Jesus with the lost we encounter here. We truly appreciate and love you all. And if next summer some of you feel led to bring a team out we would be blessed to welcome you all and let you see what you're supporting out here. It's truly remarkable.

Love you, miss you, mean it!!

Jason, Mallory, Hadley, and Maci
